Situated outside the Sologne region, the hotel is located in the country of the Châteaux of the Loire Valley. Amazing experience. The building, garden and pool are adorable. The hospitality is above and beyond but in a very easy going and friendly manner. There is no restaurant but they serve dinner options in unique reserved jars from the local area. It was surprisingly tasty and high level. Probably what you get if you mix TV dinner with an elite French cuisine. Do not miss it! We came by bike on the La loire a velo and it was very convenient to store the bike.

The hotel has a very quaint charm, it is neither a cookie cutter modern chain, nor an old musty place. It reminded me of the late eighties Phillip Stark New York boutique hotels, but without the drama. The furniture, the wall coverings, the interesting room layouts, the staff and the location were all wonderful.

L'écu de Bretagne is situated in the quiet medieval village of Beaugency. It features an outdoor, heated swimming pool, and WiFi is free of charge in the entire property. This is a lovely hotel. The room was large, well equipped and very comfortable, the bathroom was modern and very clean. A small fridge in the room contained water and there were complementary biscuits. Quiet and peaceful. Free parking was available in the central courtyard. The restaurant was very good, as was the breakfast. Both the restaurant and the breakfast room were elegant. The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. Situated about halfway between Chambord and Orleans, it makes a very good base for visiting the chateaux in the area as well as Orleans and Clery-Saint-Andre. Highly recommended. The medieval town is also worth exploring.
