Bremen is a beautiful Hanseatic city with UNESCO heritage...
Bremen is a beautiful Hanseatic city with UNESCO heritage buildings right in the city centre. There are also medieval buildings an an area called the 'Schoor' and Boetcherstrasse a few minutes walk from here. There are many opportunities to taste traditional German food in numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes (try Ratskeller at least once!), as well as buying some of these items to take back home with you (if you want local hams or cheeses, many places offer vacuum sealing so you don't have any accidents in your luggage). Wine shops will wrap bottles in extra paper or cardboard if you tell them you want to check it in your bags. Bremen is also conveniently located on a major train line, so you can use 'Die Bahn' to make it to neighbouring towns and cities and experience the local country side. There is also a lovely network of bike paths (not shared with cars!) that take you out to artist towns such as Worpswerde, or along the river to 'Das Alte Land'. Buy a ticket to watch the local Werder Bremen play, or make it for the indoor track cycling event (the 5 days of racing). The Christmas market in Bremen is stunning, and the local harvest festival, the Friemarkt rivals the Oktoberfest in the south of Germany.

I am furious with the town of Bremen.
I am furious with the town of Bremen. It is very picturesque, and we loved our hotel. However, they have a very tourist unfriendly law for cars brought into the city. You have to have a green placard on your windshield or they will ticket you as many times as they want. We had a rental car from the Netherlands which did not have a placard, even though we told them we were going to Germany. We got a ticket about 5 minutes after we parked on Friday evening and another one first thing Monday morning right before we checked out. They are very predatory and seem to watch until you pay for your parking then swoop in and ticket you. We could not go buy a placard because the rental car does not have a registration card in it, and that's what you need to get one. They say the law is for pollution control, but we had a brand new Opel Meriva, so it should be obvious that it was not a big polluter. It is simply a money making scheme, and I would not recommend going to Bremen because of this. It really ruined what had been a very nice vacation up until then. I plan to warn as many people as I can to stay away from a town that is so unfriendly to people who are actually going to put money into the local economy!

Lots of historical places, "old times" German architecture. I used izi.travel audio guide application - I discovered the most of the city center in two hours! With interesting facts and comments. Snoor street, Bremen Musicians, river front - are the most high spots to see. Ratskeller restaurant - excellent place for a meal, but you may run into a line to be seated. It is better to have a map for navigation around city center. Visit Hachez chocolate store for sweet souvenirs.

Loved the town square.
Loved the town square... UNESCO World Heritage Site. We didn't book the tour of the town hall in advance and it was booked out so book in advance if that's something you'd like to see. It also took me a while to get used to the cycle lanes on the footpaths. Everybody cycles in Bremen! Great food and of course 🍺.

Bremen is very cosy, however, almost everywhere gets closed around 8 p.m. (Especially shops) On Sundays, all the shops are closed, we couldn't even find a place to buy souvenirs. If I go to Bremen again, it won't be for a weekend, because on sundays the city is like an abondened one. If you're planning a short touristic visit there, make sure it's a "friday & saturday" one. (And it is very very cold!)

Very close to the market and the tram and just a few stops away from the historical city center. We particularly enjoyed the large spaces and the balcony was a nice surprise (we were there during hot summer days). Would definitely recommend either for short or longer stays. Benjamin was also a very attentive and responsive host.

Got stuck in Bremen on the day I arrived in Germany for the first time because of the DB strike. Meninger was just close to the the main railway station. It's a proper hotel, I was lucky to have the dormitory rooms available. They were just as good as any other room, well kept. Although they accept only cards, receptionist was really helpful in making me feel at home on the first day here in this new land. Would recommend to anyone travelling to Bremen.

First of all, it is a HOSTEL. Why the name does not write HOSTEL?? I definitely do not prefer to stay at a hostel with my family, however since it was named as a&o bremen hbf I did not realized that it is a hostel. The room was not clean. We found a used towel paper on the kids bed. The pictures of the room were far different than the reality. The coffee was terrible. Please use "hostel" in the name so people know that it is a hostel!

It is also within a few minutes walk from the old town and the city centre, and has also buses and trams that go everywhere in the city right across from the main entrance. If you're traveling with dogs this is the perfect place. Our dog was allowed in the restaurant both for breakfast and dinner, which made the stay even more comfortable as we felt our dog was welcome too. Super friendly staff. At the check in we got very useful information about how to visit Bremen and how to get to downtown with tram, located just 50 mt away from the hotel. The room was really big and super clean. Breakfast was great and included in the rate. Parking was for free.

This is my favorite hotel in Bremen. Walking distance from the airport - it's nice for flights early in the morning. Fantastic breakfast - I received my espresso and breakfast at 0430lt before going to the airport. The staff is always ready to help you.
