Ideally located in the center of Chengdu, Xishu Garden Inn has air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. The staff were incredibly helpful and spoke very good English which made our stay in Chengdu go so much smoother, as the lovely ladies helped us book tickets for the Sichuan opera and Panda Research center. The property was great too!

It was the best room I have stayed in my trip through China so far. Self service laundry services for free can be really helpful for those in long trips. The location is also very good. The pandas are the highlight of our trip but the Jinli street and the QingYang Gong were also very nice. Chengdu is also a must go to go anywhere else in Sichuan including Leshan, Emeishan and Jiuzhaigou.

Chengdu is a very clean, modern city. Of course the Panda Base is a must do. There are many neat museums around the city. Definitely do a hot pot and see the Sichuan opera performance with the changing masks. There is much to do that we were not able to get to, so we will be back.

Pandas are always great to see! Hot pot is a must. Sichuan opera was fun to see - though admittedly only the face changing. Lots of shopping areas and trendy spots.

Great place to stay, still a growing city. Great food, especially if you like Sichuan food which is generally spicy. Great sights to visit like the Leshan Giant Buddha which is about an hour away, or the Panda breeding center.

I loved the vibe of Chengdu.
I loved the vibe of Chengdu. It’s laid back, hip, has great Sichuan food and is a great home base for many side trips to places such as Leshan, Emeishan, Songpan, etc. Not to mention, you can see panda bears! whats not to love!? The people were friendlier than other spots in China as well. Id love to go back and explore more..

Chengdu is really interesting, since it is not so...
Chengdu is really interesting, since it is not so overcrowded by tourists and you, thus, may get a better grasp of local customs and people. It was from time to time advantagerous, but the people here are most often extremely helpful. Next to exploring the famous Sichuanese cuisine, you can easily book great tours or carry them out by yourself such as the Pandabase (cone early!), giant Buddha,or the Emei mountain with its extremely old monastery.

Chengdu is Sichuan’s capital, home to pandas, famous for tea houses, temples, hot pot cuisine, and #1 retirement spot. Mahjong games are everywhere and go past midnight. Old Jin Li Street and nearby ancient villages are over 2,000 years old with stone tablets and some architecture intact. Population has increased from 12 to 14 million over past 5 years. Metro excellent! Jin Jiang river walk past decorative bridges and tai chi classes is very pleasant.

A lovely town/city with beautiful temples and friendly people. A great place to acclimate for going further up. I enjoyed walking around town and finding hiking paths. Tibetan culture and food was a nice break from Sichuan cuisine. The temples are beautiful! There are nice small shops on the side roads and plenty of local cuisine to enjoy. Walking around Kangding is the most enjoyable way to get around. Several mountians to hike up as well. Some nice coffee shops on the Main Street for wifi and relaxation. I enjoyed the one right by the temple in town.

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! The courtyard is so pretty to look at, and the street the hotel is on is full of beautiful traditional architecture. It was also very convenient to take the subway from the hotel to anywhere in the city we wanted to go. The hotel staff were very nice and help. They helped us book tickets to a Sichuan opera variety show at a nearby park. The people working the front desk also spoke English, so no worries if you can't speak Chinese. The room itself was basic, but comfortable and clean.
