I was absolutely amazed how nice, professional and accountable the staff (Ali) was amid turbulent Gabrielle time. As a result of the cyclone I had to cancel my staying at a very short notice. The property not only did it understand but they offered a refund yet keeping me updated regularly until all process was completed. Thank you.

Situated in central Nelson, opposite Trafalgar Park, Kings Gate Motel has free WiFi, a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and barbecue facilities. Pleasant, courteous, and welcoming staff. The room is cozy, spacious and clean. The kitchen is very useful and there is parking next to the room. Great value for money.

We were given a free upgrade to an access room on the ground floor. Huge rooms and very well appointed. Bathroom had spa bath. Kitchen had everything and a full sized fridge. Beds were super comfy and I even liked the pillows :) Great location for walking along the river or up to the "Centre of NZ" as well as several other walks. 5 minutes to Countdown. Didn't actually walk into the city centre, but I know it was close as was the Suter Gallery and Queens Gardens. Fabulous hotel, great location.
