The 5-star Giardino Violetta is situated at the foothills of Monte Bré in Lugano-Castagnola and offers panoramic views of Lake Lugano and a private romantic garden with palm trees. It has a modern kitchen including a steamer, there is free WiFi internet access and private parking is available on site. The host was available for us to help solve some of our travel interruptions and difficulties. He was so understanding and helpful. He really put us at ease and was so considerate to our travel issues. When the European converters we brought didn't fit, he even loaned us some that fit! He even texted in at the end of our stay to make sure all was going well. We definitely would love to come back again. The garden and lake view was so peaceful and relaxing after a difficult train travel journery.

Guests can take in the views of the lake from the balcony, which also has outdoor furniture. For added privacy, the accommodation features a private entrance. Absolutely beautiful! Indeed a bijoux! Loved the location in a very quiet and peaceful place. We didn't know before we booked but it is right at the beginning of the famous walk path between Castagnola and Gandria, which takes about 45 minutes one way. The host, Bernhard, was very pleasant, give us all the information we needed and responded to our questions almost immediately. Thank you 🥰

The executive chef of the hotel's own restaurant I Due Sud has been rewarded with 1 Michelin star and 16 Gault et Millau points for the cuisine combining traditional flavours from southern Switzerland and southern Italy. This restaurant serves dinner from Tuesdays to Saturdays (reservation highly recommended), while the La Veranda restaurant (14 G&M points) is open daily for lunch and dinner, offering Mediterranean dishes with local and seasonal produce. Concierge was very nice and helpful.

It is situated 10 km from Swiss Miniatur and features a lift. The apartment features family rooms. Very clean. Well equipped (tea, coffee, olive oil). Close to university (very easy to take public transport). Best cappuccino just about 5 min walk (elly bar) and very good croassaint in patisserie. Lidl and migros just around the corner. To resume: it’s a little bit far from the center of Lugano, but gave us the sense of living like a local and not a tourist. We will return.
