Set on the banks of the Tugela River, 22 km north of Winterton, Tugela River Lodge features self-catering accommodation 13 km from Spioenkop Nature Reserve and 22 km from Winterton Museum. Great for dog. Beautiful view. Kayaking was relaxing. Walk along river was pleasant.

Birches Cottage & the Willows Garden Room is situated on a gravel road, 5 km from the vilage of Underberg. The estate offers nature trails, riverside pools, picnic spots, decks and viewing areas. It’s amazing views and proximity to the river, as well as how comfortable everything was.

Featuring a bar, Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge is located in Kruisfontein. The property is solar powered and offers Canadian-style log cabins. we love the location, the view from the lodge is beautiful. everything was above what we expected , nicely furnished, very clean, well maintained, very good fresh home made food, and very nice staff.

Montusi Mountain Lodge offers a bar and is located 44 km from Bergville. Guests receive free Wi-Fi access, a children's playground and a swimming pool. Montusi Lodge will always be among the most special places we have ever visited. The grounds are gorgeous and location stunning - remote, with birdsong, epic views towards the Drakensberg amphitheatre and spectacular skies. The food is superb with a daily changing menu and we looked forward to 4 course dinners each evening (and the wine list!). We stayed 5 nights and hiked every day. Before we got there, Dumisani was super helpful with pre-organising transfers to the Royal Natal National Park (about 25km) which has fabulous hiking. Shorter self-guided trails can also be done on the Montusi estate, right from the lodge. A really impressive operation for such a remote location and hosts Lindsey & Mick and their lovely team are to be congratulated. Thanks for making us so welcome and accommodating our thirst for the great outdoors!

Located around a privately owned lake with views of the Drakensberg mountain range, Sani Valley Nature Lodges offers secluded chalet accommodation in a tranquil setting with game viewing... Vistas are superb. Staff are excellent. Food options were really tasty and good value. Really relaxing location with lots to do and see

Located just 8.2 km from Monks Cowl Country Club, Ondini Guest House features accommodation in Winterton with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. Location was fantastic, especially the view from the outside area

Situated within a nature reserve in Kamberg Valley, Qambathi Mountain Lodge offers accommodation with free WiFi. Complimentary private parking is available on site. Everything. Every detail was thought of. The staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and the whole property is beautiful.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Silver Hill Lodge is located in Mooirivier. Free WiFi access is available in this lodge. Extras include bed linen and ironing facilities. Fantastic cosy location. Great and friendly service from each and every single staff member. Treated us as family. All meals were of great home cooked quality. Common areas were very warm and comfortable especially with a two year old in toe. Rooms were exceptionally clean. Comfortable beds with blankets/underfloor heating keeping us warm as it snowed during the night. Back-up generator helped during those load shedding hours - powering the entire lodge. An ideal place to escape for a few days of rest and relaxation.

Overlooking the Spioenkop Game Reserve, Three Tree Hill Lodge offers luxury accommodation. It features a sun deck next to an outdoor swimming pool. There are hiking trails and guided tours available. Three Tree Hill Lodge is located pretty far away from the city where I stayed while in 🇿🇦, though 5 hours on a car were worth it. Vast amount of space for hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor activities. The place is beautiful and full of various plants. Being situated on a farm all the food is home made and is prepared for your choosing from a list. I really fell in love with the view from Churchill’s lodge and the lodge itself was amazing. Despite being made in an old style I found it a nice thing to get away from modern design for 2 days. The service was great as well: they offer coffee, tea, lemonade throughout the day and three meals per day which I found decent. Also would like to say that people there are very friendly: if something bothers you they will help and if you just want to have a conversation you will definitely have a great one! They also accept banking cards there (ApplePay works as well, which was great because I didn’t take any cards with me😂)
