Puerto Barillas, lodge a Bahia de Jiquilisco

Situato nella baia di Jiquilisco, la più grande estuario costiera di El Salvador, il Puerto Barillas offre un ristorante in loco, una piscina all'aperto circondata da giardini tropicali.

Fantastic location right in the heart of the mangroves. Feels very secluded and peaceful. They offer boat tours through the waterways to see the wildlife and nature, as well as some guided walks. The guides weren't bird experts, but they could point out the different species and were able to get you nice and close. Access is through a series of well-guarded sugar cane fields and cocoa plantations before you end up in natural landscapes. The accommodation is a small collection of lovely raised cabanas in a forested area. The food is great (restaurant closes at 6) and the staff are very friendly. Pretty limited English but there are a few staff members who speak it well. Highly recommended!
