dress warm, the weather on the peak could change, or have a risk to catching a cold from wind chill. Bring along a thermal bottle fill with hot tea or coffee. Tea or coffee at the rest stop range from 100000VND to 200000VND. The buffet is worth the try. Plan to go up the peak as early as its open then trolling down those steps to the cable station. Spare a couple hours at the restaurant to sample over 60 local dishes

Be careful hiking to the top, there are many cattle trails which can lead you off the path. They previously had park guards posted to prevent tourists from doing the hike independently.
It's a fantastic cable car ride to the summit. The temples at the top of the mountain are so peaceful and it's a great place to spend a few hours meditating. People are generally very respectful and quiet. Even in the mist it's beautiful but if you see a clear day with the mountain peak visible, I recommend heading up straight away! It's not so common.

Even in the socked in conditions we had in late January, the temple complex at the top of Vietnam's highest mountain was worth climbing hundreds of steps to visit. The cable car took us up above the cloud deck and sometimes the mists would part, teasing us with what must be a fabulous view in good weather. If you're socked in down in Sapa town, it's still worth taking the cable car up to see.

I book a 2D1N hike to Fansipan Summit with an agency weeks in advance. However, I think it's much better for you to arrive, check the weather, and book a tour through your hostel. The price is around the same anyway and you don't run the risk of having the hike canceled because of bad weather.

The cable car and everything was awesome!
The cable car and everything was awesome! With kids, take the funicular all the way to the top, as it was a slippery wet walk up the 600 stairs. you can buy tickets at all the stations along the way.

Cable car across the valley was the highlight of this trip.
Cable car across the valley was the highlight of this trip. Don’t pay for the funicular if you can’t see the top before you leave Sapa as we were in cloud and rain. You can buy a ticket at the top for the second funicular if the weather changes.

Very good location, room was spacious and just as advertised on the pictures. The staff was very helpful arranging us a sleeper bus to Ninh Binh and tickets to the Fansipan mountain. Couldn’t have asked for more given the price!
We had an amazing stay in Sa Pa, Rex and Rose were very helpful and friendly! They helped us by booking a trekking and taxis to the city and the Fansipan mountain. The room was very clean and confortable, the breakfast had good options and the restaurant was excellent, with great prices and fresh food, we certaily recommend this place. The location is 25 minutes far from the city center by car/taxi/motorbike, it was great to know the local community. The neighborhood has restaurants, stores, markets and cafes that you can walk to.
The view was great, the hotel was clean.. my friends and I were having a good time staying in this hotel. Linh, was superb in helping us to buy a ticket (cable car) to Fansipan mountain. She also helped us to buy the ticket bus from SAPA to Hanoi airport. She is very friendly and helpful in giving the guidance on where to go around Sapa town.
The weather conditions were foggy. So there was no view from the hotel unfortunately. The host is able to arrange tours to Fansipan Mountain and Cat Cat Hmong Village for you.
Probably one of the most comfy beds we had in all of Vietnam! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the room was large and had fantastic views and the shower was great. Hotel also offers a laundry service and can help you book tickets to local attractions like Fansipan Mountain.
Great location across the street from the train to Fansipan mountain and within easy walking distance of eateries, souvenir shops, lake and down into the Hmong village.
Room was a reasonable size with a good bathroom.
Staff were exceptional and always willing to assist.
The hotel has an amazing view at the valley beneath Fansipan mountain. Rooms are comfortable and nicely equipped. The owners are very friendly, helped us with transfers to the hotel and back and provided many tips regarding our stay in Vietnam, don't be afraid to ask if you want get tickets for cable car or plan some hiking around. We also used laundry service and had a breakfast at the hotel every morning.
The views from the balcony overlooking the SAPA valley and mountains were fantastic. Having breakfast and refreshments while inhaling the mountain air calms the mind. This place allows us to trek through the valley and villages easily. A day of acclimatization was beneficial to us in tackling Fansipan mountain Summit (2 days one night program) the following day.
Everything was great! The hotel receptionists were both really really helpful and one of them went out of her way to takeaway the hotel breakfast included in our booking for us to bring on our hike up to Fansipan mountain (reporting time was 630AM and everything was neatly and nicely packed) and to book the hike for us as well on super short notice. Very happy with their service. Room and toilet was really big and spacious.
