You might want to go to Himuro Shrine (氷室神社) for a quieter location to admire the cherry blossoms (during spring) and to feed the deer with less competition from other tourists! The deer may be more aggressive though, since they are more hungry (due to less tourists in the area feeding them).

Is very busy and packed with tourists in peak season. The deer closer the entrance are very aggressive so will charge you and bite your clothes to get biscuits. Go further up the park to get some peace and quiet and meet calmer deer. Also, some tourists will feed wrappers and ice cream to the deer thinking it is funny. If you see this, please tell them not to. The deer will get sick.

    Don't miss Deer Park!

Don't miss Deer Park! Buy deer crackers and the deer will bow in response to your bow for a cracker. The whole park is lovely with lots of buildings and things to see. Spend most of the day here, then get green tea ice cream and some ramen! We stayed across the street at the Nara Visitor Center and it was a perfect location!

Good to explore all corners of the park.

Good to explore all corners of the park. If you walk up to Todaiji Nigatsudo (東大寺二月堂) there is a great view, and a visitor's hall tucked in behind. It's quiet, with toilets and free green tea!

You can purchase crackers to feed the deer inexpensively from vendors. If you bow to them first, they will bow back then accept a cracker. (a few, but not all could become a bit aggressive if they detected you had more you could be feeding them. Not a big deal though.) They let you pet them and their velvet horns, which is easy to do if you aren't also presenting food.

There are many plastic bags found in dead deer's stomachs.

There are many plastic bags found in dead deer's stomachs. So, please only food them with deer crackers and take any plastic bags with you to litter somewhere else. Please be mindful when you travel.

Walking from Nara Station, you can easily reach the hotel. Nara itself is not big, making it convenient to visit Nara Park, Todai-ji Temple, and Mount Wakakusa from the hotel. You can carry your luggage and head to the next destination at any time. The hotel is in a Japanese style, exquisitely clean, with a good value for breakfast. The daily onsen and complimentary ramen supper add a touch of joy to the trip. I will definitely visit again next time.

The hotel is located right opposite the JR train station, and about a 15 minute walk from the Kintetsu station. It is super easy to walk to the Nara Park along the city’s main pedestrian drag, or catch a bus to other attractions. The room was big for the Japanese standards, had a tv, a fridge and an electric kettle. The staff was super friendly (few spoke English). At the reception you could pick additional pillows, PJs, shampoo, drinks, you name it. Breakfast was big and varied.

Japanese style hotel, relaxing atmosphere, both Japanese and western style breakfasts were of excellent quality. Access to late afternoon drinks and snacks whilst overlooking hotel garden was a bonus and a great way to relax after exploring Nara. Location is quiet once all day tourists have gone and is close to Nara Park.

Comfortable, modern and spacious hotel and room in a central location a few minutes walk from Kintetsu Nara station. The hotel sits conveniently at the border between Nara Park with its great temples, and the area of shops and restaurants around the train station. It sits besides a busy road, but with the windows closed this is no bother at all and our stay was quiet and relaxed. We recommend the breakfast, both the Japanese and the Western options are great. Staff were great, professional, very helpful and warm.

Nara Park is 20 minutes by walk along the main shopping street. Very very convenient! Hotel has a nice natural hot spring and offers unlimited free drinks of Japanese sake, wine, beer, tea and coffee, unbelievable. Room is big, ckean and comfortable.

This hotel is very conveniently located near the Nara Station (5 minute walk). It is also a short walk (5-6 minutes) to downtown where there are really nice shops and restaurants. It is also a 15-20 minute walk to Nara Park where there are beautiful shrines and very tame deer wandering around. The breakfast at the hotel very good. It featured both western style food and Japanese food.

Brand new hotel with nice design room and right size, great carpentry work. Very clean room and towel. The hotel is at the walking shopping street so car may not able to reach. Walkable to sightseeing sites like Todaiji temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Nara park. Very clean and advanced water closet compare to other hotels in Japan :-) Carpark is nearby. Breakfast is normal.

Vintage and historical hotel where a lot of famous people stayed. Good location (inside of Nara park). Can see deers right behind the hotel. The reception staff is very helpful who recommended us a good local Shabu Shabu restaurant and also helped us to make a reservation. That is one of the best dinner I had in Japan.
