Love the floating Normanton church !

Love the floating Normanton church ! Quite peaceful, one can walk or cycle the perimeter of this, the largest man made lake ( reservoir) in Europe, but at about 26 miles, its for the fit, or foolhardy !

Beautiful area for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Beautiful area for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Could do with more signage as disabled parking was not easy to find. Our tip is to bring insect repellent with you as we were bitten by insects/midges whilst we were there in June.

    Rutland Water is very beautiful.

Rutland Water is very beautiful. Tip: Do some homework before leaving home as the locals I asked for directions to the Church on the Lake were unsure how to get to it - this was disappointing as I never located it!

    Beautiful walks round Rutland Water.

Beautiful walks round Rutland Water. Unless you want to pay to go into the Nature reserve that's not the best place to park as there is a high embankment next to the path with no view of the water. The trip on the boat is well worth while and the commentary is interesting. The paths are for both walkers and cyclists

Peaceful location, lovely courtyard room with everything needed, including a very comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast and excellent evening meal on the day we chose to eat there. It was nice staying next to the bar - we could have a drink in the evening without worrying about who was going to drive. We're not golfers, but learned a bit about the sport while we were there! Also was great to be so close to the Nature Reserve and able to walk around Rutland Water.

Barnsdale Lodge was a great location as we were visiting Barnsdale Gardens for afternoon tea etc. Our plan the next day was to walk across the dam and more at Rutland Water. A visit into Oakham and Melton Mowbray. So a super location. Our room over looked the Courtyard and was clean and well stocked with tea/coffee/biscuits etc. Staff were helpful and friendly all around. Breakfast had a good choice and set you up for the day.

We were able to contact Tracey easily to access the property and for other queries. She always answered emails promptly. It was well located for Rutland Water and surrounding towns/villages. The property was bright and airy, spacious enough for 3 people and well resourced.

Lovely quiet location , within walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants but also quiet walks. Lovely outside space to sit when the weather was nice and ample space for a family with growing teenagers to share. Well placed for Rutland Water but also ideally located to visit nearby cities and towns.
