Worth going inside the inner courtyard to see the historic...
Worth going inside the inner courtyard to see the historic facades and the huge wine barrel- you can walk over it! Sadly the interior of the buildings could not be visited when we were there but they may be open at other times. If you don’t fancy the steep walk up to the castle from the old town, take the funicular- if you intend the go into the inner courtyard ( the outer parts are free) then the cost is the same whether you walk or take the funicular. You can also pay a bit more to go up the Königstuhl on the furnicular- there’s one stop after the castle stop where you change to the older historic funicular - dates back to 1907. Visiting the castle is so much more than looking at...
Visiting the castle is so much more than looking at beautiful ruins! Buy the ticket and take the trip up the mountain on the inclines to the very top! The views are incredible! We did this first and then proceeded back down to the castle! Second, spend the extra euros and take a guided tour of the inside of the castle! It was so worth it! An hour of history! Our guide was Christian. He was an anthropology major and shared great information! Afterwards, explore the castle area some more, check out the massive wine barrels and try out a glass of wine! Finish your tour with a walk back down to the old city! So much easier going downhill than up, but it is on cobblestone and rough on your ankles!

We had a breakfast there, which has a lot of choices. Our rooms is very clean and looks luxury. The receptionist is very nice and her suggestions let us finish the touring in the afteroon that we arrived with such a nice autumn weather.

You can easily walk to the famous Karl Theodor Bridge, commonly known as the Old Heildelberg Bridge . The center which was right outside the door of the hotel was charming , and had a lot of choices in foods. There were nice shops to get plenty of nice souvenirs. The breakfast had plenty of options. The area that breakfast was served was decorated beautifully. It is what you think of when you think of a small German restaurant.

There is free street parking available, but we did have to park down a couple streets to find a spot available. Walkable distance to the Heidelberg Castle, which was nice so we kept our parking spot on the street. It's a good hotel to stay at for the price.

Tram is only around 300meters. There's Rewe supermarket and a lot of choices for restaurants nearby. We love that the apartment is very spacious, with its own living room, kitchen area, dining area and bedroom. Kitchen is fully-equipped. There's also a washing machine. We really appreciate the early check-in after our very long flight from Jakarta. Dieter is also a very welcoming and helpful host.

It is on the upper floors of a building in which the ground floor is the place one can take the funicular towards the Castle. The intermediate levels are a public parking. The address is just a couple of blocks away from the "Marktplatz". My wife and I had a wonderful evening and a marvelous night. In the morning, we enjoyed a plentiful breakfast on a balcony with a spectacular sight of the Heidelberg Castle.
