Hualien Tourism Sugar Factory Hotel has free bikes, garden, a terrace and restaurant in Guangfu. The accommodation is exceptional, especially for the price. A renovated Japanese-style apartment, with option of beds or futon in the tatami room. There were two bathrooms, both beautifully done, and the nearby restaurant, while rather spartan in decor (it is also used for the breakfast room) served fantastic food.

There’s plenty of restaurants close by and you get breakfast as well. It was great hanging out on the lovely wooden handmade tables looking at the green mountains. We really enjoyed talking to Erna who works there as she is a very sweet women. It’s also super clean and great sheets and towels.
