Jon was very welcoming and helpful, from letting us leave the bags in the B&B while finishing the cycling the next day, to cooking a delicious dinner for us. The dining room has stunning views over the coastline. I'll be back for sure!
Comfortable didn’t get a chance to use all facilities - trip was too short for breakfast or dinner
Our room and ensuite was very spacious and clean. Little extras in addition to tea and coffee were very much appreciated. All the staff from reception to restaurant were so helpful and attentive. Location was very handy to St Margaret's Hope ferry. Great range of menu in restaurant for breakfast and dinner. It was obvious that many of the locals also come to enjoy the restaurant. Would highly recommend The Sands.
Breakfast was the best of this trip. Shower was hot, toffees by the door a sure winner! We liked everything.
I loved this hotel! This was the cutest room for one at the top floor of the inn. It had a skylight that opened for fresh air that looked over the tops of houses, and the other window looked out over the harbor. The bathroom mirror was amazing. It was the perfect ambient lighting to get ready. I need one for my bathroom at home. Because the room was so high up and away from the other rooms, it was also very quiet. I felt like I was the only person in the hotel.
Breakfast was good, staff friendly and helpful, as was the owner Andy. Location was perfect for walking into Kirkwall for dinner and for visiting the island.
Great location if you've just come off the ferry, and for exploring the Orkney islands. Lovely room, and the food for both dinner and breakfast was excellent. The staff were brilliant, very friendly.
the staff friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable and dinner at the hotel was delicious. Will definately stay there again.
As soon as we got there it was obvious the hosts take pride in their bed and breakfast, the whole accommodation was clean and tidy. The hosts were incredibly generous and cheerful. It is a little bit out of town but if you don't mind a 25 minute walk (if you want a couple drinks with dinner), it is well worth it for the lovely stay, quiet surroundings and lovely views.
