Surrounded by hills and mountains, the family-run Landgasthaus Neues Bild, Eggerstanden occupies a historic building, a 10-minute drive from the centre of Appenzell.

It features a restaurant with a summer terrace, serving Swiss and international cuisine. The restaurant is closed on Monday evenings, on Tuesdays and on Wednesdays. Extremely friendly and welcoming. It is a great location in the peaceful countryside but with easy access to Appenzell and all of the nearby lifts. Breakfast is included, and a lovely restaurant offers delicious meals. Corinne was a fantastic host.

Located next to the car-free centre of Appenzell, Adler Hotel is set in a beautiful traditional Appenzell-style building. It offers free Wi-Fi and wired internet access, a breakfast buffet, and a charging station for electric car. We loved staying in this hotel! The hotel was close to the train station and in the center part of town. The rooms were very nice and very clean, and the staff was awesome as they were more than willing and even went out of their way to answer our questions and help us in any way they could. The breakfast was delicious with lots of great options to choose from.

Surrounded by untouched nature, the Waldgasthaus Lehmen can be found 4 km from Weissbad in the canton of Appenzell. It offers Alpine-style rooms and a charming restaurant terrace.

The cosy, wood-panelled rooms at the Waldgasthaus Lehmen all have a modern bathroom. We stayed 2 nights beginning of June. If you like traditional places, you should visit Waldgasthaus Lehmen. You would be surrounded by natural forest with a view on Appenzell Alps. One of the most common sound during the day is various bells on cow necks. We were lucky to see how Appenzell farmers bring their cows to the mountains. The farmers have very beautiful cloths! On Saturday we saw a group of farmers, who came in their traditional dresses to Lehmen restaurant and had a few hours of singing and enjoying food. The restaurant is very good, if you like Swiss food. You must be hiking in that region, otherwise food might be too heavy. I had pork steak, pork schnitzel and beef steak with noodles and mushrooms. All dishes were very tasty. You have to try local beer! And Lehmen whisky! Highly recommended! Very nice! Service is impeccable, fast and attentive. All personnel is very friendly. Breakfast is wonderful! I would prefer, if it started at 7 instead of 8… Our room 17 was great, soft pillows, comfy beds, bath, simple but cozy design. The hotel has a playground for kids. Parking is huge.

Situated 1.5 km from the Schwende ski lift and 3 km from the Ebenalp ski lift, Loosmühle features a bakery, a snack bar and a café on site. Wi-Fi in the entire property and private parking are both provided for free. Very nice, spacious, clean room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Even when my travel plans changed somewhat due to the weather, the owner was nothing but friendly and helpful. Maximum number of stars!

Surrounded by a park with a sunbathing lawn and a playground, the palace-style Hotel Restaurant Belvedere enjoys a quiet location in Weissbad. It offers free Wi-fi and mountain views.

All rooms have a private bathroom and a satellite TV. They provide views of the Appenzell Alps or of the village. The location was ideal. The owner and his wife and staff were very kind and helpful.

The hotel offers guests a wellness area with a sauna area, an outdoor hot tub, a relaxation room with views to the valley, and an indoor swimming pool with a hydro-flow system and views of the Appenzell landscape and the Voralberg Alps. The view was amazing, room was so comfortable and the entire property was beautiful! The staff was so kind and welcoming too!
