Friendly, welcoming, and accommodating staff who let me check in early and kept checking I was okay (especially nice as I was a solo traveller). Fantastic location in a historic, beautiful inn. References to Tennyson and Johnson throughout. Infrequent but good bus service from Louth and a 30 minute walk to Somersby, Tennyson's home hamlet. Good food and atmosphere. Very comfortable and clean room.

It was a friendly inn, lots of character and everyone was friendly. Got talking to locals and guests. If you want a boutique style room this is not for you. Best comfy bed I have slept in. Didn’t have breakfast but it smelt good.

I had cycled from Norfolk so I was very tired. I can't remember a lot other than the tea was strong, the food was hearty, the landlord was jolly, the beer tasted good, I still had my wallet, watch and bike in the morning. Perfect example of a traditional English Inn, I imagine that little has changed since the time of Dr Johnson who visited all those years ago.

Excellent location, staff and Manager both welcoming and attentive. The village and local history applicable to the inn is incredible, rebooking again on my next business trip.

Quaint country Inn- Loved the pub, to by sit by fire, converse with staff and fellow travelers. Steak and Ale pie delicious. The owners were incredibly kind, generous with their time and had wonderful stories to share about the Inn and local area. The Inn is close to various footpaths that meander through meadow and hills. A lovely stay.

The Inn has so much character and history and is in an idyllic rural location. Richard, the host, was so welcoming and helpful, we really enjoyed his company. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. We had a brilliant time!
