The hotel is an old coaching inn, which has been done up. The original wooden beams can be clearly seen in the more recent plaster. It's refreshingly different from the global hotel chains. The hotel bar is very atmospheric, being patronised be locals as well as visitors. Good selection of local beers and the Guinness is very good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in included in the room rate, and is very good, with a choice of cooked breakfast or cereals. The lunchtime menu is also very good.

Our room in an annexe up the street was huge. 2 double beds. Really clean. The food at dinner the first night and both breakfasts were really lovely. The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty.

Exceptionally characterful and historically interesting 18th century coaching inn but including some unusual architectural features dating back to the 17th century. In addition, the staff could not have been more helpful and assisted us in every way possible during our stay.

Tiny (Hobbit-size) but very cozy room, with comfortable bed, and very clean en-suite. Staff were very helpful. Very good dinner in the Inn, and very tasty breakfast (I opted for a Cooked Irish). I kinda missed a closet, but since my stay was only a short one, hangers on the entrance doors did (not sure if that is fire safety compliant).

The staff were very friendly. The supper in the pub was excellent and the breakfast was too. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy and for such an old historic inn it was really well kept. Just up the hill within easy walking distance is the Down Museum (free) which is set up in the buildings of the old County Down Gaol. We’ll presented,
