The Ocean Suite is the ground floor of Casa São João is located in down town Angra do Heroísmo, near the ocean. An excellent example of UNESCO world heritage cultural preservation requirements for this city this home is believed to have been established in the 1400s. This majestic and refined structure was recently restored, and is an architectural jewel, adorned with original stonework such as arches and columns. It combines the romantic charm, and charisma of it’s history with the comfort, and convenience of the 21st century. Bold decor, fusing contemporary and classic elements, designed to guarantee comfort, serenity and delight to its occupants, typically families, looking for the comforts of a home in a vacation rental. This ideal location is a few steps away from the bustle of "Rua da Se" (main street), a small sandy beach by the Bay of Angra, and the marina with a variety transatlantic yachts. This architectural treasure features 2 generous bedrooms 2 bathrooms and open concept lounge, dining and kitchen area. Free wifi and 120V outlets for our North American guests therefore, no password or transformer needed.
I'm a native of Terceira and have traced my family line here for 500+ years. My father was a fisherman and my mom embroidered, kept chickens and maintain an orchard that kept us feed when it was too dangerous for dad to go out to sea. In 1974 there was a revolution that lead my parents to immigrate to Canada where I grew up. When I was 29 I met the love of my life and immigrated again to California where I now live with him and our kids. When my kids were little I wanted them to go with me to Terceira to see my family there and to know their roots from my side of the family. My husband loved it so much we bought a home there and that's how our journey to vacation rentals started. We now have 2 locations that we renovated and with the help of my cousin Elsa who will be your contact there, we started our little property management company Fuga Doce (Sweet Escape) in hopes of sharing our love for this amazing Island with fellow world travelers, and those looking for there roots on this Island paradise.
This location is only steps away from the Atlantic ocean, a sandy beach, yacht marina where you can book your dolphin and whale tours, and some pretty fabulous restaurants. This property is located downtown with it's cobblestone roads, and UNESCO heritage buildings, quaint pastry shops, museum and a beautiful botanical garden. There is a grocery shop nearby as well as the main farmer's market where you can pick up locally grown produce. The city also has great restaurants, that would delight every foodie. Mt Brasil is within walking distance with its historic fortress and enigmatic trails, that speak of ancient civilizations on the island. It is also a great place to picnic and get the most breathtaking views of the city. This exceptional location is close to all the best the island has to offer.
