UMARI Villa is a luxury lodge located on the uniquely preserved Aguajale lake in the middle of the Amazon rainforest jungle - newly built, modern yet rustic, it provides its guests with a glimpse of the local living style with the added comfort of modern amenities. It is a cosy 116-square meters villa with a vast terrace equipped with outside furniture & a hammock, a spacy window-walled living area, a king-size bed with a mosquito net, a large dining table, a private bathroom, an outside shower, and local design lamps & furniture. You will find yourself immersed in pristine Amazon nature and hosted by a family from a nearby Santa Clara indigenous community, which will allow you to touch upon the local nature, wildlife, flavours and traditions.

I am an outgoing person, with a passion for nature and travel. In a group of like-minded people and together with a local family, we decided to develop a small jungle retreat in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. UMARI Villa is a product of this attempt and I open it for tourists because I believe that the area and local people will greatly benefit from moderate mindful tourism. Note: We are a group of like-minded, nature-loving people, working in partnership with a family from the local Santa Clara community - this family takes care of our tourists. They have received specific training in authentic hospitality and are eager to share their culture and traditions with visitors. However, please keep in mind that your hosts are members of a local community.

UMARI Villa is located around 15km away from the Iquitos city, in Santa Clara de Ojeal. Starting at Nanay port, it will take a 40 minutes boat ride on the Amazon river to get to the Santa Clara community. From there, a local family representative will meet you and guide you on a 30 minutes jungle walk to the Villa. Local recommendations Being immersed in the pristine jungle, UMARI Villa is a perfect place for: - jungle walks (day and night, solitary and accompanied by a local guide), - bird watching and nearby zoo excursion, - lake outing and sunbathing; - visiting nearby indigenous communities; - local food tasting.
