Well-equipped, private, comfortable, and cozy apartment in a quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance of both the main train and bus station as well as the shopping, entertainment, and cultural center of Groningen. Start your day with a cup of coffee in the sunshine on the garden bench at the front of the house, and from 2:00 PM until late in the evening, enjoy the grapevines on your private southwest-facing terrace. The interior remains pleasantly cool thanks to the stone floor throughout the apartment (underfloor heating), combined with the option to keep the sun out using blinds. A delightful choice for swimming enthusiasts: the Oude Winschoterdiep canal runs just 15 meters away from the apartment, and within a 10-minute walk, you can take a dip from a jetty (or use the swim ladder) and enjoy the adjacent small sunbathing area. Parking is available on the property for your car or bicycle. Excellent public transportation connections are within walking distance (a 15-minute walk to the main station), including intercity connections to cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Leeuwarden, Germany (Leer, Hamburg), and the ferries to the Wadden Islands (sometimes in combination with the bus)

Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Frouwien. I am a mother of four grown children, a primary school teacher, and I have lived in the quiet neighborhood of this B&B for nearly 20 years. There was a time when I almost left that large house after my youngest child moved out five years ago. However, the pleasant living environment, friendly neighborhood connections, and ideal location kept me rooted here. But that big house needed a new purpose, and that’s when it became the B&B. Get away from the hustle and bustle or perhaps the apparent monotony of your own life. Enjoy time to relax with a drink in the sun, read a book (small library available in the B&B), walk, cycle, swim, or—further afield—try stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, sailing, or mountain biking in the area. Explore restaurants, visit museums, the theater, small stages, cultural center De Oosterpoort, a traditional pub, a casual dining café, or simply enjoy your 'own' terrace. The city of Groningen is friendly (people greet each other enthusiastically!) and compact ('pocket-sized', with a maximum 25-minute bike ride from one end of the city to the other). Slow down and recharge in this lovely provincial city, even the most popular among students in the Netherlands! You'll find them in various part-time jobs, working with great enthusiasm and zeal! No reserved Northerners here; we're a pleasant mix of everything and generally very accessible (says a Northerner who has returned home). Don't forget the Wadden Islands; an hour by train or bus takes you to the ferry to Terschelling, Vlieland, or Schiermonnikoog for a day trip. The boat trip itself gets you into a holiday mood, and once on the island, you'll feel far removed from your usual life.
