Ananda Guest house is located on the slopes of the Maderas Volcano on Ometepe Island, 19 mi from the port of Moyogalpa. The 5-acre organically managed property runs on a hybrid energy system including solar and grid energy. There are 5 guest rooms each with private bathroom and free in-room WiFi. All rooms have access to a well equipped kitchen – either private or shared. Most rooms have a furnished private porch. The property offers a concierge service to help guests arrange tour, restaurant and transport needs. Free private parking with 24-hour security is available for the 4x4s recommended to reach the property. Guests can enjoy various activities nearby, including volcano hikes, coffee tours, taxi transport, rental of scooters, motorcycles, and ATVs. Guests can walk 10 minutes into the village of Balgüe where there are restaurants and small convenience stores. Food delivery service is available from restaurants located in the nearby village. Ananda Guesthouse uses passive cooling techniques, bio-digestors, solar-heated hot water, organic farming and furniture made from locally sourced hardwoods.

We are slowly realizing our dream of creating a luxury off-grid boutique guest house on the incredible island of Ometepe. Part of our dream is to have numerous edible organic gardens around the property. We give priority to the creation of ecologically sound processes to minimize our footprint this includes deriving 100% of our energy needs from the sun, solar heated hot water, using bio-digestors to process our black water, gray water leech fields, LED lighting used throughout, organic farming, 100% local labor.
We have lived on the island since 2007 and founded Totoco Eco-lodge, Xalli Beach Hotel and now Ananda Guesthouse. We are focused on offering guests the most comfortable stay on the island that is also highly sustainable!
We are located in the quaint village of Balgue which has a population of +/-6,000 people and is is located on the Maderas Volcano side of the island. Surprisingly the village has a some truly incredible restaurants and local comedors. Balgue is developing into one of the main tourist hubs on the island due to its friendly people, wonderful location to hikes, access to coffee plantations, cultural importance and abundance of flora and fauna.
