Rescued from a final excursion to the breakers yard. 'Bella' the Gozo Bus was driven back to Gozo (where she served Gozitans and tourists between 1985 and 2004) and finally retired from the roads and since has been respectfully restored and repurposed into luxurious overnight short stay accommodation in Xaghra, Gozo. Located on private land with epic sea and valley views, in peaceful surroundings on the edge of fields in Xaghra.

Here are some of my favourite things to do on Gozo: Hondoq Bay. There is a trail along the sea from the beach around the coast to the ferry at Mgarr which is very beautiful, and easy to walk. The little old lady in her bakery on the left hand side of the church in Qala. It's like a window into the past, and incredibly cheap. She bakes her bread on a wood fired oven in her cellar (she often makes pizzas later in the morning). There is no sign above the door so look out for a big wood pile on your left as the road being to climb the hill. Walk along the Sannat cliffs. You can drive down to a small car park from Munxar and the views of the Maltese islands from the very high cliffs are astonishing. Victoria: go to the cheapest bar in Europe called Tapies on Pjazza San Frangisk. From there you can cross the square and explore the narrow old street of Victoria. It's like north Africa (Rizzles opposite Tapies is great for cakes, and I love the steak rolls). Xwejni Bay is a great to visit and to bathe, and to see the Roman salt pans. I like Shell Crab which is a fun place to sit and eat (very good value). The temples in Xaghra above the bus are older than the pyramids. You can see them from the table in the bus, between the palm trees. You can walk up our fields to the top, and turn right to avoid the climb up the road :-) Ramla Beach is a lovely place to visit too but often busy during the summer months.
