Villa Coli is the last house to the right of the road from Calci to the Certosa which can already be seen a little ahead to the left. Towards the lowland the house opens on a wide terrace garden with a wonderful view, shaded to the left by a fragrant linden and to the right by a great pitosforo bush. On the front, beyond the railing adorned with geraniums, there’s a wide meadow that declines towards the lowland, rich of flowers and fruit trees, completely fenced for children’s safety. In winter mature oranges, at end of June apricots, in July pears and in October pomegranates. The inside of the house is on 3 floors and is full with taste of the past: ceilings with original nineteenth-century paintings and furniture of the same epoch. To the ground floor there are a studio, a wide living room, the dining room and the kitchen with a neighbouring wide storage room. On the first floor there are three double bed rooms, one of which with a wide terrace, and the main bath room. Between the first and the second floor there’s a supplementary bath room and on the second floor there are two additional double bed rooms with beautiful views of the Certosa and of the lowland.

My name is Lavinia Coli Asquini and I’m the actual owner of Villa Col, built in the first years of the 1800s by a great-great-grandfather of mine. The last inhabitant of Villa Coli has been my aunt Corrada, who never got married and devoted to Villa Coli all of her heart and all of her energies. Her main concern was that after her Villa Coli could be abandoned or, even worse, sold out. To ward off all of that, few days before dying the 93 aunt Corrada expressed her wish that Villa Coli would be offered to families in vacation in Tuscany. Not even 4 months later, on August 8th 2013, Villa Coli was already hosting 2 couples from Moscow with their 6 children. About myself, I got married since 1970 with Giusto Bitossi Coronedi with whom I live in his family house not far from Calci. We have 2 sons living in Milan and a daughter living in Paris, all married with children. Cross-stitching helps me to pass lengthy winters in the country, but as soon as the beautiful season arrives I devote me with passion to my garden and to that of Villa Coli. Together with my husband we take care of our guests in Villa Coli and enjoy meeting different people coming from all the countries of the world.

Calci has nested in an inlet of the mountainous group named Monte Pisano, at the bottom of a valley called Val Graziosa which in Italian means “nice valley”. The valley, that does justice to its name, is oriented toward southwest and this grants Calci a very mild climate: sun from the morning up to the sunset and shelter from the northern winds, offered by the Monte Pisano. Calci opens towards southwest to the Pian di Pisa: a fertile plain with a flourishing agriculture, many towns and villages, excellent roads and highways and widespread transportation services. On the other side there’s the mountain arc of Monte Pisano, rich of silent and uncontaminated woods, secular chestnut trees, paths for long walks with splendid landscapes that extend up to the sea. Calci is renowned especially for the Certosa: a wonderful monastery of great historical and artistic value, almost in front of Villa Coli. Most art cities in Toscana (Pisa, Lucca, Firenze, Pistoia, Prato, Volterra, San Gimignano, San Miniato, …) are to less than 1hr. Siena and Arezzo are to less than 2hr. To relax and have a good time, several different seaside resorts on the Tirrenian Coast can be reached in about 30min.
