2020 - roof top terrace closed to guests. Please ask if you would like to take photos from the terrace it has great south facing views of the Majella Mountains. You will still have plenty of space to relax and sunbathe on the patio and in the large south facing garden. We are within easy walking distance of grocery stores, bars and restaurants and there are plenty of walks and cycling opportunities directly from the house, no need to drive anywhere. The Adriatic coastline is long and has many beaches, some free some having facilities so therefore a daily or weekly rate is charged. The sea is lovely and even early in the season the water is not too cold! Equally close are the ski areas, Passo Lanciano and Mamma Rosa; on the way you will pass the wolf sanctuary and this is definitely worth a stop. We do recommend a car unless you are planning your stay in Rapino with no day trips, there are buses but not very frequent and limited destinations. For our guests staying in the cooler months the apartment has full gas central heating and if the sun is limited and the solar panels are not in full force then there is always hot water available from the mains gas.

Now my home is in Rapino, a rural and traditional town perfectly situated between the mountains and the Adriatic sea. Jacquie has worked in the hospitality industry for many years and for the past few years has been involved in the wine business. After years in high quality hotels your comfort at the Majella Garden is her priority. She is also happy to discuss the wines available locally.

Close to Guardiagrele you will find Rapino, a small town situated perfectly between the mountains of the Majelletta and the beaches of the Adriatic. From the apartment you can drive to some beautiful areas for hiking or just wander around the town for a day of relaxation. The town has a good selection of bars, restaurants and small family grocery stores, butcher and hairdressers however Guardiagrele is a very short drive and three large supermarkets are available with good quality produce. As you travel south along the coastal road you will reach the area known as the Trabacchi Coast, a part of the region famous for it's unique fishing structures. Several of these Trabocchi have now been converted into restaurants. From the Majella Garden you can take a day to travel south and visit towns and villages and return to Rapino along the coast. We can provide information on hikes, historical landmarks and the best places to shop. The city of Pescara is 45 minutes drive from Rapino, there are beautiful shops and restaurants and the beach is long and sandy. A very short walk from the apartment you will find an excellent restaurant serving typical Abruzzese dishes; it's all here!
