The bright and welcoming environment has been designed and built around the needs of the tourist. The flat is accessible by self-check in, the unique code will allow you to enter independently and without any time limit. The rooms are made with simple and durable elements. The energy upgrading of the flat allows an optimal temperature to be maintained in both summer and winter. Radiant floor panels have been installed to heat the individual areas, and for the warmer months a ceiling unit has been installed to cool the entire flat in just a few minutes. The timeless, contemporary style of furnishing is achieved with floors known as terrazzo or seminato. The porous-looking walls have been created with a highly breathable product.
You won't miss a second of your holiday with a long welcome, you will find brochures, maps and the house manual inside the flat. Rossana and I can be reached via whatsapp if you need any advice, we are always available and happy to accompany you during your stay in Matera.
The Spine Bianche district was planned and built in the years immediately following the evacuation of the ancient Sassi quarters, when, in 1953, Matera became an authentic workshop-city. Conceived and designed by the commission set up by Adriano Olivetti, assisted by the sociologist Frederick Friedmann, the district as a whole is a work of great importance. It represents the decisive transition to a neo-religionism guided by an open rational stance, without denying the relationship with history and tradition, such as that of the ancient white art of bread that you can find at the 'Panificio Perrone Il forno di Gennaro'. A bakery opened in the 1960s where you can taste the excellent products of the local tradition. A must-visit is Pasticceria Schiuma, one of the oldest pastry shops in the city, which has been renewed since 1946. A few minutes' walk away are the huge underground cisterns of the famous Palombaro Lungo, which extends beneath Piazza Vittorio Veneto, right in the centre. To photograph a spectacular view of the city of the Sassi, make a stop at the Belvedere Luigi Verricchio.
