With so many walking routes, Roscommon is the perfect base to experience a wealth of outdoor activities due to its pristine rivers, lakes, hillsides and a profusion of historical attractions. Discover some of Roscommon’s hidden gems and idyllic natural scenery with a variety of local walking routes to include Suck Valley Way, Sliabh Ban Famine Walk, Mote Park Loop, Lough Key Forest Park and Castlecoote Loop. If a spot of fishing takes your fancy, Lanesborough is located on the main River Shannon at the northern end of Lough Ree which is a short 20 minute drive from Roscommon town.
