With only a few hundred inhabitants, Lovran is particularly proud of its fishing and shipbuilding tradition, which is now part of the tourist offer of the place. Ika is also the university center of the Riviera Opatija, because it is home to the internationally recognized Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, where hundreds of students from all over Croatia and abroad complete their training in the tourism industry.
