The enchanting city of Chania is a 30-minute drive away, while the splendid coastal town of Rethymnon is also within easy reach. Its superb location helps you to explore the beauties of Crete island. Vafes is located in Apokoronas, Chania, a village with a long history and has been alive for hundreds of years. In the village you will find the Cave of Kryonerida where it has great historical importance for the locals. There is also the beautiful chapel of Agios Ioannis. Finally, there is the Kalamato Cave, which is a multi-dimensional cave with small chambers, barrels, stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is accessible only by experienced cavers. The beach of Georgioupolis is only 11.5km away, where you will find cafes, taverns, a pharmacy, a supermarket etc. The beach is sandy with many visitors and locals loving it very much.
