We feel very fortunate to live in The Lake District and want to help you enjoy your stay in fabulous Keswick. Centrally located in the centre of Keswick, a couple of minutes walk from The Moot Hall in a peaceful residential area. There is free on-street parking near by the house. 15 minutes walk to the lake side at Derwent Water. Low level lake side walks and classic fell walks direct from the door. There is a regular bus service from Penrith train station served by the West Coast Main Line and local buses to popular Lake District Destinations. From further afield the nearest airports are Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle or Edinburgh. There is free on-street parking near by the house. Keswick has been one of the most popular Lake District tourist destinations since the 1850’s, around the time that The Tall House was built. The variety of activities close to Keswick makes The Tall House an ideal location for a family gathering or large group. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy; hiking the stunning fells you can see from the bedroom windows, mountain biking on the open trails or at Whinlatter Forest and cycling the well-known classic passes of the Lake District. You can even enjoy cycling in a more relaxed way with the assistance of an e-bike, putting the hills within reach of everyone. Derwentwater is a short stroll from the door, an idyllic place for swimming, boating, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, all of which can be hired locally. The Keswick Launch is a relaxing way to explore Derwentwater and an evening cruise on the lake is an experience you won’t forget. For those who enjoy a relaxed holiday, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, and pubs to explore in Keswick, plus the twice weekly market. The Theatre at the Lake and Keswick Cinema offer a wide program of cultural entertainment. There are no shortages of places to eat and drink in Keswick and most places are happy to host large groups.
