Relax and unwind in our cosy rural retreat in Derbyshire - welcome to Shardlow Cottage in the historic village of Shardlow! The Grade 2 listed cottage has been lovingly restored and retains many period features. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay, a stroll away from the river Trent, and a 10-minute walk into Shardlow village, with its canal side walks and pubs. Living area The front door of Shardlow Cottage leads into the cosy lounge, with a feature fireplace with a log burner, and original beamed ceilings. With 2-seater sofa, dining table/workspace and a Smart TV. Kitchen A doorway leads into the well-equipped kitchen, with a full sized electric oven, 4 burner gas hob, large fridge freezer and washer dryer. A stairway gives access to the first floor, and a stable door leads out onto the patio. Bedroom A cosy bedroom with a double metal bedstead, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. With wooden flooring and a window looking out onto the River Trent. Bathroom A feature roll-top bath, with a Victorian-style shower, a Victorian-style washbasin, and a WC. The bathroom features a heated towel rail, and vanity mirror and has wooden flooring. Outside Shardlow cottage has a large south-facing sandstone patio area with a table and chairs to enjoy al fresco dining. There is a stunning mature wisteria on the back of the cottage providing a spectacular display throughout the summer! Some steps and a shared access path and gateway give access from the back of the property. Staircase The exposed wooden staircase at the cottage is original, so is quite narrow and steep, so we feel this would be less suitable for children and the elderly. Guest access You will have Shardlow Cottage to yourself throughout your stay. The patio is shared with the neighbouring property. We look forward to welcoming you to Shardlow Cottage very soon!

Hi, I'm Alicia, and together with my husband Mark, we host our lovely little cottage in Derbyshire! I am a kitchen designer, so love all things interior, and Mark comes from an engineering background. We both love long walks in the country, exploring new places, and eating out. We also love to travel across the UK and Europe, often staying in holiday homes ourselves. We think it is the best way to stay in a new town or area and live like a local.. The cottage is only a 10-minute drive from both East Midlands Airport and Donington race track. Just a few doors away you will find a lovely traditional country pub serving real ales and home-cooked food. A 10-minute walk away is the inland port of Shardlow - wander the canal towpaths to see the many colourful barges and feed the ducks! On the doorstep, you will find lots to see and do – the East Midland cities of Derby, Nottingham and Leicester are a short drive away. The cottage is conveniently located for those who work at large local companies such as Roll Royce, Toyota and JCB. On street parking is available adjacent to the cottage. The cottage is located close to the M1, A50 & M42 so is easy to reach. There is a fantastic 24-hour bus service which connects the cottage with East Midlands Airport, Derby, Loughborough and Leicester. The bus stop is a 5-minute walk away from the cottage.
