Blagdon Cottage on the edge of Wheddon Cross, Exmoor, is an ideal base for Exmoor holidays for families and groups of friends! Situated in the heart of the beautiful Exmoor National Park, the property is surrounded by a patchwork of fields with the stunning backdrop of Dunkery Beacon. It's a great choice for families or groups of friends to explore the area. With four bedrooms, Blagdon Cottage can accommodate up to 7 or 8 guests (plus cot on request) in two double bedrooms with king-sized beds, one twin bedroom, and one further double bedroom which is recommended as most suitable for a single person, but can sleep 2 guests if required (it's a standard sized double bed, 4'6). Wheddon Cross is a village in the parish of Cutcombe on Exmoor, based around the crossroads; the roads run from north to south between Minehead and Dulverton, and east to west between Taunton and North Devon. The village is argued to be the highest on Exmoor, standing at 980 feet above sea level, and the highest point on Exmoor, Dunkery Beacon (1704 feet above sea level) is the focal point of the village. Dunkery Beacon is about three miles from the village, there are fantastic panoramic views from Dunkery; wild moorland to the west, the Bristol Channel and Wales to the north, the rolling Brendon Hills to the east and the Quarme Valley to the south. In recent years the village has become famous for the abundance of snowdrops in the nearby valley which has become known as 'Snowdrop Valley'. The snowdrops bloom around February and a park and ride system operates from the village to enable visitors easy access to the "carpet of snowdrops". Wheddon Cross is surrounded by beautiful countryside; open moorland, wooded valleys and farmland. An abundance of wildlife can often be seen, including Exmoor ponies and red deer.
