Applestow is a delightful, Victorian cottage nestled in the heart of Northam and the perfect getaway for couples and families to enjoy the best of North Devon. Kick back and relax in the house where J. H Taylor was born, five times British Open Golf Champion. A recent top to bottom restoration of the cottage promises to provide a truly wonderful and memorable stay, all within striking distance of Westward Ho! with its golden sandy beach and the small fishing village of Appledore.

We are new hosts and love being able to share our cottage with guests wanting to explore the local area. The best part for us is knowing those who have visited us have enjoyed their time and for this to be reflected in the feedback we receive. We have family living in the village and so Northam will always be a special place to us. Northam is an historic market town, civil parish and electoral ward in Devon, England, lying north of Bideford. The civil parish also includes the villages of Westward Ho!, Appledore, West Appledore, Diddywell, Buckleigh and Silford, and the residential areas of Orchard Hill and Raleigh Estate. There is a huge amount to see and do in and around the area. The north Devon coastline has some of the best beaches around - perfect for sailing, surfing or taking in the breath taking views along many coastal paths. Royal North Devon Golf Club is a stone throw away with it's close links to Applestow Cottage, this being the birthplace of J.H Taylor five times British open golf champion. For those who love their food, there are some great places to enjoy locally including Moran's in Westward Ho! The Pier House with its wonderful sea views and for more formal dining, the Olive Tree. Guests and local residents love the safety, peace and family-orientated environment this popular village provides. There is a real sense of community within Northam and the surrounding areas and those who visit often return time and time again. In terms of parking, due to the cottage being close to the centre of the village, parking is on street and not allocated. If you are not able to park right outside the cottage you will generally find parking very close by as there are lots of streets that offer parking, such as Lenards Road, Burrough Road or Chope Road.
