Crossmaglen is a townland in Northern Ireland and the largest village in South Armagh, it is rich in history and tradition while also offering a wide range of modern conveniences and amenities. According to legend, the village is named after Owen Lennon, who is reputed to have had a shebeen, or an illegal ale establishment. The village's centerpiece, Cardinal O'Fiaich Square, is affectionately referred to as "Cross" by locals. Dundalk, the county town of Louth, is just a short drive away, and it offers even more historical delights in its museums and buildings, as well as a delightful crafts and farmers market where you may admire the residents' talents and pick up a memento or two. If you want to go a little further afield, Belfast is a great option. If you're looking for a unique day out, check out the Crumlin Road Gaol Visitor Attraction and Conference Center or the Titanic attraction.
