The Casco Viejo is a perfect place to take a walk and enjoy many of Bilbao's monuments, such as the Cathedral of Santiago or the church of San Antón. In the vicinity of the Seven Streets you will also find the Plaza Nueva or the historic Mercado de la Ribera. You will also see its famous gullies, narrow separations between the houses that make up small alleys that lead to water currents. In total there are 16 gullies, and in many of them it is possible to see clothes hanging protected by umbrellas, to combat the rainy weather in Bilbao. Shops, bars, restaurants and hotels give life to the original urban center of Bilbao.
