Howdy! I'm David, and I'm delighted to welcome you. My guesthouse is your guesthouse! I live here on the property not far from where you'll be staying. I'm a former Chicago area/Dallas resident, now mostly retired in Costa Rica. My fun career as an entertainer (magician) and motivational speaker has taken me around the world. But of all the places I've been, I chose THIS piece of the world, THIS piece of land, to now call. home. I'm a cook (chef?), love nature and can help direct you to the best sites and spots around the beautiful Orosi Valley. Although my home is on the same property as my guesthouse you'll have complete privacy. I'm available for some spirited conversation as needed or, if you prefer, you'll seldom see me. It's up to you! I'd love for you to see why I love it here. This isn't your "touristy Costa Rica". This is the REAL Costa Rica. Safe, secure and private, this guesthouse sits nearly at the top of the mountain on my 6-1/2 acre property. I'm the only gringo in my small Tico neighborhood, and many of my neighbors are related to one another. My neighbors are the best! (Smile and wave when you see them please.) My property is SUPER safe and very secure. The road to my house is a bit rough, a little steep at the end, but you should be fine in any vehicle. You'll be just 10 minutes by car to downtown Orosi bursting with local restaurants, shopping, the historic church and more. (And no drive-through restaurant or the like). The Orosi Valley is host to the ruins of Ujaras, is 20 minutes to the Tampanti National Forest, home to river rafting and natural hot spring pools and close to the wonderful Orosi Natural Spa (highly recommended). I've prepared a guidebook of recommended restaurants, activities, and more. It's in your cabin. A 4x4 is not necessary but is always recommended to explore all of the surrounding valley. We are dead center of the entire country, making us the perfect home base for your adventures. However, please note that what may be 16 miles on the map may take 1-1/2 hours by car!
