Rose Cottage is a cosy and comfortable two bedroom cottage on a large landscaped block of land, with established garden and fenced dog run, oozing period charm and supplied with generous modern conveniences. The cottage boasts two living zones with a delightful formal lounge area with timber lined walls and high ceilings. The two queen sized bedrooms are beautifully decorated with attractive wall art, polished floorboards and ambience of the period style. Please note no WIFI service is available however is available at the Kilmore Library should work requirements need. Private office space can be booked at the Library as well. Rose Cottage has a study nook if you wish to use i-phone hotspot at the Cottage. The second open living zone provides a modern kitchen with all appliances needed for cooking at home, a dining area and a spacious lounge with super comfy lounge suite. This area is light and spacious, looking out onto the outdoor patio and attractive maintained garden area. A wall mounted 75 inch Smart TV provides entertainment and relaxed viewing. Pets are most welcome at Rose Cottage, with the provision of a fully fenced dog run, water and food bowls and mats for their comfort. All pets indoors are to be strictly housed in the main living zone area, and under no circumstances allowed into the front section of the house or on beds and bedding. Pet blankets are provided upon request. The only circumstance where pets are allowed in the bedroom is if sleeping in travel crates, which must remain on the floor. Please dispose of pet waste appropriately and do not put down toilet. Off street free, secure undercover parking is available in the large rear backyard, providing guests with peace of mind and easy access to the cottage. Rose Cottage is a rare little gem!

Whatever your purpose for visiting this beautiful inland town within the lovely Great Divide Region of Victoria, you will undoubtedly enjoy your stay at Rose Cottage. The access in any direction to fabulous scenic locations and well known wineries, cafes and restaurants, make this place a wonderful spot to begin exploring the region, coming home to soak in a deep, claw foot bathtub within the beautifully fitted period style bathroom. Bath salts are provided to soak your cares away! A little closer to home, you can walk to view many historical buildings, taking in the history of Kilmore. Whitby Cottage, the Old Kilmore Gaol, the old Kilmore and District Hospital, these bluestone buildings boast charm and allure. The space around the cottage is planted with roses, sea daisies, agapanthus and shady trees offering protection, privacy and a lovely environment to wander around. If I had to sum up Rose Cottage it would be 'a delightful, period style cottage nestled within spacious surrounds offering all the comforts of home'. Rose Cottage will be closed during part of 2024 to continue with exterior renovations, new carport, new fencing and restyled garden beds. If you wish to return or make a booking, please do so in January as from the beginning of February we will not be open for bookings while these updates take place. Kilmore is reputed to be the oldest inland Victorian town, boasting numerous old, charming bluestone buildings and contemporary conveniences. It is a great place to stay overnight or for several days to visit local attractions. Plenty of native flora and fauna around will add to your experience. Kilmore really is the gateway to regional Victoria. An hour further up the highway is the beautiful regional city of Bendigo, and to the west lays historic Ballarat. Closer to home, are the fabulous sleepy regional towns of Heathcote, Lancefield, Romsey, Wandong, King Lake, Seymour, Avenel, and Beveridge. Not far off the Hume Highway, heading north from Melbourne, Kilmore can be its own destination rather than an overnight stop. Horse riding, horse racing, golf, heritage buildings, fine restaurants and cafes, beautiful mountainous scenic views, all of which entice travellers to stay a while, both now and in the past. Remnants of stables, pubs and the bluestone Kilmore Gaol boast a once thriving hub, where travellers making their way to the Goldfields, rested a while at the local inns which also provided feed and shelter for their horses. You won't be sorry to get to know this area better.
