Lots of old reclaimed wood and other details, while still feeling modern. There is a shared kitchen with some free to use coffee, tea, noodles, etc. It's right next to the beach, and the price is very competitive. I enjoyed my stay.

Located within a traditional and historical building in Funchal old town, Santa Maria Hostel is a boutique hostel featuring a vintage-style décor. Great hostel in old town of Funchal. Steps away from restaurants and the market, as well as cable car. Clear check in instructions were given if arriving late. Had a kitchen, several bathrooms, seating area etc. bed room had lockers and locks provided. Wi-Fi worked well. The staff were friendly. The hostel itself seemed to be a historic building and had cool design.

The room was big enough, cozy and modern. I felt like i was in my own bedroom!!!! It was super clean, towels, shampoo and bodywash were given from the hotel. The atmosphere was lovely and inclusive (there’s a common kitchen that everyone can use). One of the best cheap city hostel i’ve ever been to!!!
