Located in Tola, a few steps from Playa Gigante, Monkey House Hostel provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Great price value! Really nice staff and amazing view from the hostel and the restaurant. The food prices are more than fair and very yummy daily specials. It’s a small hostel, so it is easy to meet other travellers in the main hangout area. The hostel is owned by locals. I can definitely recommend this place :)

Facing the beachfront in Moyogalpa, Rancho Tranquillo features a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi and a tour desk are featured. All units at the hostel are equipped with a seating area. The ranch is beautiful and spaceous with lots of hammocks and spots to hang out. Daniela and Tony are the absolute best, so kind and helpful. There is only one dorm, so not that many people, and because of that it feels like a small family. The ranch is 15 minute walk from the town/ferry, so it is nice and quiet. The breakfasts are amazing and really good value, and one day we had a family dinner, which was delicious. You are surrounded by animals and flowers and trees, even mango-trees which you can help yourself from! They organise volcano tour (with delicious packed lunch), kayak and laundry if you need. This was my favourite place to stay on my trip, everyone should go visit this ranch!!

Boasting a garden, shared lounge, terrace and free WiFi, Hostel Clandestino Maderas is set in Playa Maderas, 600 metres from Maderas Beach and 1.3 km from Marsella Beach. By far the best hostel myself and my girlfriend have stayed in during our trip to Central and South America. There is such a special environment/atmosphere created here which is ultimately due to the dedicated and friendly people that run the hostel. The common areas (including the kitchen) are all beautiful. Whether it's the living area which looks out over the jungle or the kitchen which is modern and has all the equipment you could ever need. Also, the beach is 5 minutes away from the hostel. You will undoubtedly fall in love with Maderas and Hostel Clandestino and never want to leave!

La Urraca Loca Hostel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Balgue. Featuring barbecue facilities, the property is located within 12 km of Maderas Volcano. We loved the staff! Nuvia and Jenifer were wonderful and helpful with organizing motos and transportation and also gave great advice for activities. The breakfast and drinks were great as well and such a beautiful landscape with all the plants and flowers. We loved staying in our own private bungalow too. There was a net for bugs and a fan to keep cool. And they do laundry as well for a great price. It’s also nice to be close to the town of Balgue for eating.

Set in Rivas, 300 metres from Playa Amarillo, EL TUMBO offers accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Perfect place to stay if you are looking for a cozy hostel with friendly staff and a relaxed vibe. Perfect location in relation to the Spanish school to improve your Spanish, not to mention you have several top surf spots within walking distance! There is a large living room with a bar where you can get drinks. Everyone usually sits here chatting, drinking, watching a movie, playing ping pong or a game of pool. Almost every evening there is something to do in or around the hostel such as Burger night, Taco night and Trivia night. There is a communal kitchen with all amenities and various places where you can relax, such as several hammocks or sofas. The Garden will soon be renovated with, among other things, a volleyball field. There is already a slackline and campfire spot available! And don't forget to cuddle or play with the cutest dog (Lobo) and sweetest cat (Venus)!

Hostel Julieta is set in Rivas, 33 km from Christ of the Mercy Nicaragua, and has a terrace. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Julieta was honestly the sweetest hostel owner I have ever met! She was kind and helpful, and very caring about my stay! She even offered to have my girlfriend and I married by her mom haha Honestly she made my trip to Rivas so much better than it could have been! Also... Little Nico is the best boy ever and I would go back for him any day :)
