The location..stunning views of the Citadel and Calvi.. the group dinners connecting with everyone there...also the food was excellent and the price of wine to go with was perfect. Busy sometimes but added to the group energy. I hooked up with other travelers for short trips..rides to town. I stayed much longer than I had planned... came back 10 days later and I'm already planning fir next summer. The manager Sebastian was a little difficult for me to read in the beginning and mostly the staff does not speak english..but once I got to know Sebastian... he is the Best!

I highly recommend Chez Marie for hostels or gîtes traveling to a terrific setting with beautiful and dramatic mountain stream walks and wading just a kilometer to the east.

The place is a straight 10. It is not meant for everybody. Being there it is like being in a small travelling family. You will sit at a table with 10+ people from all over the world. Mr Donald, the owner, it is an amazing host, friendly, warm, welcoming. If you are that specific person that enjoy real travels, you will love the place.
