Very attentive and accommodating host. I was worried about my early morning flight and when I walked out of my room at 04:15 in the morning he was standing there waiting for me. The location is 10 minutes from the town with supermarket cafes restaurants from the oceanfront. There are also numerous komoot hikes in the area. The bedroom bathroom and kitchen were exceptionally clean and comfortable.

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. It was really easy to make great connections to other solo-travelers and still not a typical party-hostel; both pizza and burger night were more than delicious; many parking opportunities; beautiful place

Great location if you want to hike and go surfing. The host is very kind and helps if you want to do an activity or have any questions. The rooftop area and common kitchen were perfect to chill or work on my thesis as well. I can recommend booking a surf class as well, it was a great experience and amazing instructor.

Good place to stay if you go hiking and need just to sleep after you are very tired so the noise won't disturb you. Well decorated, nice balcony in dorms, very clean as for hostel. Pizza night is worth it. I don't like pizza in general, but those ones were so good and delicious. I definitely recommend it. It's better to have someone on reception in the mornings, for check-outs and check-ins.

I visited Madeira during a storm, which broke out whilst I was at Jaca Hostel. I was only at the hostel for 2 nights, but actually it was my favourite place to stay! I met lots of amazing people, many also travelling alone. Porto da Cruz is very quiet (very different to Funchal), but I felt a real sense of community even for the short time I was there. There are lots of hikes you can do from Porto da Cruz, an amazingly cheap bakery/sandwich shop that does great coffee just next door, and plenty of surfing opportunities.

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at! The people and the vibes are just amazing :) Very clean, spacious, with a lot of things to do. Perfect for solo travellers who want to meet new people but also for those who just want to enjoy some time on their own, hiking, surfing.. While there, be sure to join the Friday's pizza night!
