Set within the former home of the Rowntree family - a lovely Victorian mansion with extensive gardens, YHA York is just a 15-minute riverside walk to York’s ancient centre.

The staff is so helpful and friendly, the place is really comfortable and clean, the social zones are great to relax and have a good time. You also have a kitchen to cook your own food which makes it even better to stay in. There is also a beautiful garden outside. The place is a 20 min walk to the town but you can choose to go on a path along the river which is really worth it. I just stayed 2 days but I would definitely choose it again.

Such an inviting and friendly hostel. From day one, I was greeted by name by all the staff. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, baking, and eating whatever you want. The lounge has a projector screen for watching Netflix. Free juice, tea and coffee is provided throughout your stay. This hostel is only a 15 minute walk from the train station and 20 minute walk to city center, but there is a bus stop right outside the property. They also host events to keep you entertained. Such a wonderful stay!
