The location can not be better to start your visit to the Caldera through the river bed. The grounds and houses attract a mixed crowd of backpackers, couples, single travellers that often extend their stay. Beautiful decorations and gardens, some in Hobbit and Elves style. Walkable distance from Los Llanos, but be aware the last hundreds of meters are pretty steep. Shuttle service available € 5.

For me, this place was a kind of paradise. I I love to be right in the middle of the mountains, with incredible views and great stars at night. I enjoyed talking to the other people at the hostel and I felt like I slept really well as well. It’s worth it being in the middle of nature even though you do you have to walk up a steep hill to get there. That really is the purpose that you’re right in the middle of nature, and the experience is otherworldly and incomparable.

Great location and lovely view and only 5 to 10 minutes from shops and restaurants. Also a great starting point for people who do like a good walk. Lovely sunny communal garden.

This place is definitely unique. Lonely house with the caldera, this is super quiet and views are stunning. There is a strong collective mindset (you’d better speak German though! 😄). You can start great hikes from there (Brecitos - Taburiente - back). You cook together in the common outdoor kitchen, share nice moments, enjoy the vibe. Staff is lovely. Including the 6 dogs and cats and guinea pigs! It has a retreat vibe, you can really relax and breathe up there. It is a must-go if you’re a hostel and hiking person.

A magical location. This place won't be for everyone so make sure you read through the reviews, but if you want a great location to explore the Caldera before spending the evening relaxing with breathtaking views, friendly dogs running around, and the sort of like-minded people that such a place attracts, you'll love Rivendell.

The location is stunning, up in the mountains, with wonderful views. I can see why Alison has called it Rivendell, it is reminiscent of Tolkien's famous valley of sanctuary. She's really made it a beautiful place. Lots of small, creative, touches and decorations make it feel very welcoming for people and animals alike. It offers very good value for money and has clearly earned a loyal following amongst the backpacker community.
