Its a family run facility. David and his wife and son were very hospitable and helpful. The day we were going to Abu Simbel, David went to drop us at the main road at 4 am when we could easily walk there. Hostel was generally quite clean and nice. Private rooms were good too. Main road is walking distance where you can get conveyance. Also there are a number of restaurants and eatries nearby. Good value for money. Had a comfortable stay. Thank you.

The very best hostel in all of Egypt. They have a bonfire everyday from 8 to 9 pm by the Nile and owner/manager Gandi was the best person I met in all of Egypt. We celebrated a birthday with the locals. The hosteliers were very engaging.

David, the owner is an extraordinary man, he helps you with everything. Even if the location is somewhat far from the city center, minibuses run all the time at a ridiculously low price, 2.5 Egyptian pounds per trip, and nearby you can find good quality and cheap street food. Stay at David Hostel!

In many years of travelling I have never had as amazing a host as Ghandi. Besides being great to be around, he has a wealth of information I have never found before. He proposed many budget options that I had not been able to find online, and they truly made my trip. The location of the hostel is also perfect, with a beautiful sunset view upstairs and a quiet place to swim in the Nile. The breakfast is also everything I would want in Egypt.

The nicest hostel I stayed in Egypt so far. Recently opened, rooms are spacious and very clean. Ghandi is a very nice host, he gave me a lot of tips to discover Assuan. Very delicious breakfast with fresh fruits and tea/coffee all day long. The location is good: on the Nile in a local Nubian neighborhood. I had a wonderful time staying in go inn backpacker's.
