Rio Dulce
Surrounded by nature and offering an on-site restaurant and bar, Hotel Casa Perico is located in Amatillo. Free WiFi access is available. Guests can borrow a kayak to explore the swamps at no extra cost. A shuttle service is offered to and from the village of Fronteras. I loved my stay in Casa Perico! Its super calm and quiet. My room was beautiful and bright and the bed super comfi with a good mosquitonet. You can take the kayak or kanus to explore the river and there is a private swimming platform. The food is good and the prices are fine. The stuff is friendly and helpful.
Rio Dulce
Hostal Blood Moon is situated in Rio Dulce and has a plunge pool and pool views. This guest house features free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, full-day security and organising tours for guests. Beautiful space, I could have easily spent a longer time. The kitchen area is spacious and overall everything feels nice and airy. Flor, the host, is very kind. She was awake to let me in when I arrived past midnight, made us all pancakes and coffee in the morning, and let me keep my stuff for a few hours after check out.
Lívingston
Casa Manatí features accommodation in Lívingston. The property has river and inner courtyard views, and is a few steps from Ribera Rio Dulce Beach. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. Julio’s cabana was newly built and very spacious. He just finished the new porch overhang the day before my arrival! I really liked the rustic feel of the home, and how private it was. I was the only one on the property during my stay. I stayed in the private room, but took a look upstairs at the loft. There are multiple beds in an open floor layout, with mosquito netting to ensure a comfortable sleep. There are kayaks available for a small extra fee, making getting around on the river very easy - especially if you have friends nearby, would like to visit the thermal waters, or grab dinner at Restaurante Viajero. Julio also has a well stocked kitchen if you will be doing your own cooking, as well as an EcoFilter water purifier. Loved my stay! Thank you Julio and your family for making me feel welcome.
Was all in all a very good and feel Like Home stay for us. Great food nice Drinks. We could easy spend more days there If we had the time. Defenitely would recommend staying here
Great host and atmosphere! Also a great location, very quiet and availability of kayaks to explore the area! Upon arrival the host explains very clearly what the possibilities are and is always open to help if you have any questions.
Julio was lovely and the place is as shown. A lovely basic homestay in the middle of nowhere. We were basically the only people staying when we came which was lovely but I can imagine it could feel crowded if it was busy. There's a small shop 2 mins walk through the jungle where you can buy staples but only occasionally has fruit/veg. You're in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do apart from admiring the beauty around you, perfect for what we wanted but don't expect lots to do! Can go swimming in the river.
Great hostel. Only 1 bunk bed in my room. Host really friendly. 5 minutes walk to town. 15 minutes walk to ferry
The family is the most amazing, wonderful, kindest people. We loved staying with them and it felt like a homestay more than a "hotel" which we loved. The location cannot be beat. It was a quick kayak to hot springs, caves, waterfalls and food and they help arrange it all. This homestay experience was a great way to start our vacation!
What not to like!? Absolutely loved it. Spotted so many animals/wildlife; turtles, howlermonkeys, beautiful birds, beautiful butterflies, iguanas and omg fireflies at night!!! So romantic and magical. The canadian owners are super friendly and employ only locals to create work. Service of the people was really friendly. The food in the restaurant is delicious and you've got many choices. Price is also okay. Cant recommend this place enough!
A lovely hotel imbedded in nature and managed by a great host!
lovely hostel
The location is absolutely stunning, you're sleeping in the middle of a mangrove. The place is beautiful, it has a pingpong table, a reasonably priced bar, it's clean, the river is nice to swim in, the food is very very good! The kayaks are cheap, the tours support the locals. But it's a little secluded, so you're spendiing some time there :) which isn't bad, but might not be for every type of traveller.
