The house was sparkling clean and well equipped with everything we could ask for. The location is optimal with a fantastic view of the ocean on one side and the mountain on the other. The host took great care to accommodate our toddler and provided toys, books, a cot and a bed safety. We felt very welcome and well taken care of here.

The good: The view from the house is breathtaking. It is even better when the sun is shining. It was hushed. The house felt very cozy. I love the wood and the detail that went into the setup. I also love that in every room “but the bathroom,” you can view the beautiful surroundings. A smart TV was available. All the kitchen materials require a dishwasher Shout out. I want to shout out to Maria. She was in attendance for us during breakfast, and she made us feel at home. And even let us know about a fantastic photo spot and where the local grocery store is to pick up additional supplies. I also want to shout out to Elisa. She is a housekeeping assistant, and she went above and beyond the call of duty. It is genuinely greatly appreciated. Overall, I give it an 8.9 out of 10, and I will stay again, even during the summertime.

Casas do Horizonte is absolutely incredible. The house was perfectly cozy, the views were unreal (mega points for the lack of light pollution at night—stargazing in the middle of the Atlantic is something else), and our host, Ricardo, was exceptional! He was extremely responsive and really went out of his way to help ensure that we had an amazing stay—from enabling a flexible check-in to accommodate our early flights, greeting us with the best treats + wine from the island (I still dream about butter from Pico), helping us coordinate some additional transportation, and providing the greatest recommendations for things to do while we were there, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The accommodations were impeccable and so comfortable (you've got great taste, Ricardo!), and I must say, it was one of the most well-equipped rental kitchens I've ever cooked in. Watching the sun rise and set over the ocean from the outdoor table was heavenly, and I'm certain my blood pressure dropped instantly as soon as we arrived. If you're looking to truly escape to a remote place where the entire world feels like it's your own, this is it. One thing to be aware of is that Casas do Horizonte is essentially on the opposite end of the island from the airport, about an hour away. We wanted this—a very private, remote experience—but if you stay here, you MUST must rent a car and be prepared for the distance, as well as the switchbacks and hilly driving. Also be aware of this fact if you happen to have early flights out. There's still plenty to do on that side of the island, it's just not right in the "heart" of things.

This cute, clean and cozy home is located not far from Sao Roque and away from the busiest part of the island. With all the amenities and the welcoming spirit of Ana we had a wonderful stay. The apartment is brand new, the location, despite away from Madalena, is half way from all the main spots of Pico. The bathroom is big and clean and the kitchen is equipped with all the basic necessities.

He was sharing with us fruits and veggies and welcomed us very warmly. Gorgeous place and view. Highly recommened and would always come back

The view on the ocean is extraordinary. The place is very peaceful. You can walk to a wonderful natural pool in few minutes from the house.

Very nice with two separate bedroom and a kitchen/living room, perfect for our family. Maura was very nice and helpful. We would recommend a stay at Casa da Avo Biza.

Owner was really welcoming and available if we needed anything. The house and the surrounding area was clean… and well designed. Very comfortable, even during the storm while we were there.
