Wonderful place to come back to after day of exploring N. Pennines or Hadrians Wall. 1 mile from small village of Alston with gas station and pubs. The Cumberland is a wonderful local pub. Lovely secluded wee house, fully equipped for a couple of days off the grid. Owners wee touches fresh milk n wee pkt of biscuits was a lovely touch. The B n B host / dogs were very friendly/helpful absolutely loved the 4 days there n settling in at night with the log/ coal fire was an added bonus ( too cold for the hot tub for us) Hopefully be back in the summer to enjoy this wee hidden gem vx

A lovely setting for walks, and visiting the lakes and Hadrians Wall. The hot tub on an evening was a firm favourite with our daughter. On arrival they had left a pint of milk, biscuits, tea and coffee which was greatly appreciated. You can walk to Alston easily along the Penine way, and the two pubs are very friendly and do great food. We had a morning on the South Tyneside Railway which our daughter loved.
