The jungle trek is lead by Rosit aka the magician! Just like Bryan, he has real love for the jungle and its animals. He's a great team of guides working together for Thomas Leaf. On top of that, Rosit can show you magic tricks, love his enthusiasm. You can also do a tour in the area to see how Tempeh, Tofu and Brown Sugar are made and you will stop at a some other places with the nice guidance of Ponido (sorry if the name is not totally correct 😅). I can really recommend it!

Situated in Padang and only 1.2 km from Air Manis Beach, The view padang, Amazing view, food, drink, sleep, transport, 8 mins Mentawai fast ferry features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and... The hospitality is great! Easy communication with the host. Robert was great at getting back to me with questions I had. The place is very clean, comfortable bed. I had an excellent meal there. Hot shower. The view is beautiful. The place is located in a more secluded area, not near the city but very close to the ferry.

The best part of the property is the staff. Owner, Tyson welcomed me explained everything needed. A young lady working at the cafe (Diza, sorry if I mistaken the name)made me one of the best meals in Indonesia I’ve ever tried. Sweet dog and cat were also welcoming and slept under my room’s door at night.The room was simple but very clean with beautiful garden setting. The location is a little bit out of town, but walkable and very quiet. Tyson also organized a jungle trek for me and that was also very good. We saw 8 orangutans)

Borja and Yuyun are excellent hosts that offers you the warmest welcome that you can imagine. They are very kind and help you with any and every question you might have about the place and the island. Every single item in the rooms were well thought. Room was very clean. Having a mini fridge, boiler in the room was great to have. Location is fantastic as it's a bit remote in the island which offers you a calm place to relax. Having the ocean right beneath you is remarkable. Food in the restaurant which is running as a side business, "La Boca Chica", was a great surprise for us as it really exceeded our expectations for taste and variety. We were not comfortable to ride scooter and Borja was kind enough to give us a practice session which shows how far they are willing to go for helping their guests!

Set in Tuk Tuk in the Sumatra region, Juma cottages features a garden. There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. All units in the guest house are fitted with a kettle. The scenery from Juma Cottages is really awesome. The host Pino n Jelita and other staff is very friendly n helpful. Recommended n will come again next year.

Set in Bukit Lawang, Sahnan Guest House has a garden, terrace, restaurant, and free WiFi throughout the property. The accommodation offers a 24-hour front desk, and organising tours for guests. We had a lovely stay here, the family was super friendly and really helped us with everything: getting transportation, earlier breakfast, extra GB for our SIM card, laundry and more! The food was really good and there’s a semi wild orang utan with a baby that climbs in the trees next to the huts sometimes! I would highly recommend staying here.

Situated in Bukit Lawang, Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys features accommodation with seating area. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The owner was so kind. Let me stay in a slightly more expensive room inside without paying the difference and got a ride back to the guesthouse from the city center at night. I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.

Location is perfect, you are in the middle of everything, amazing owners, very kind and helpful, they will even give you welcome drink (tea, coffee or water) and pick you up at the bus station (which i didnt expect), owner is good guide too, definitely worth to stay

Sumatra Expedition Lodge is a recently renovated guest house in Bukit Lawang, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. Beautiful property, great to hang out at, and not in the tourist area. You can get the feel of a local neighborhood. The rooms are clean and spacious.
