Sumatra Thomas Leaf Monkey Guesthouse & Jungle Trek is set in Bukit Lawang. This homestay offers free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. Bryan is a really knowledgeable (ask him about the jungle, he has great stories), positive and cool guy. His friends, family and him will make sure that you have a nice stay in the cozy jungle hub of Bukit Lawang. The food at the Guesthouse is excellent and the vibe is very good and relaxed . The jungle trek is lead by Rosit aka the magician! Just like Bryan, he has real love for the jungle and its animals. He's a great team of guides working together for Thomas Leaf. On top of that, Rosit can show you magic tricks, love his enthusiasm. You can also do a tour in the area to see how Tempeh, Tofu and Brown Sugar are made and you will stop at a some other places with the nice guidance of Ponido (sorry if the name is not totally correct 😅). I can really recommend it!

Situated in Padang and only 1.2 km from Air Manis Beach, The view padang, Amazing view, food, drink, sleep, transport, 8 mins Mentawai fast ferry features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and... Robert, the owner is a really nice guy and goes out of his way to accommodate all the guests. The view from our room was amazing, we just wanted to stay in the guesthouse all day every day! Roberts dog Rocky is also the best little companion.

With mountain views, Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa is situated in Bukit Lawang and has a restaurant, full-day security, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area. We loved the staff and the quiet and traditional surroundings. We did the Orangutan tour with them and was incredible

The location is beyond beautiful- way way more picturesque than on all of the pictures l. You re sleeping just above the water. Borja & Yunyun are incredible hosts!! They helped to arrange everything for you (scooter, trips, snorkeling equipment) and sent us to the best places. Food was delicious- Yunyun is an awesome chef - breakfast 10/10 and dinner too!!! If youre staying on Pulau Weh - this is the place to be!!!

I stayed at the place for 2 nights, had a great tour with two guides working with the cheeky monkey. We saw monkeys, Orangutans(my two guides found them after about 2 hours of Trekking in the jungle), turtle, insects, plants, did a great tour for one day. Including rafting for about +/- 50 Euros/USD. The food in the cheeky monkey is quite expensive compared to other places in bukit lawang but it was really good. It definitely a recommendation, try the Gado-Gado - a vegetarian food. Chris from Austria

We stayed for a total of 9 nights in Romlan; in two different rooms. Where to start with the things we liked? First of all, the staff of Romlan is very friendly and helpful. They even helped us with calling and getting to the local pharmacy to get some medicines for sickness (one of us got ill and they called the pharmacy that was closed due to the Sunday Service and they opened up the pharmacy for us). The food and drinks of their own restaurant were amazing and very tasty & variable; good price value as well! The location of Romlan is also good: the boat drops you off at their pier and all the things in Tuk Tuk are on walking distance. The views from the rooms and restaurant are amazing. If you want to hire a scooter bike you can without signing for anything and you don't have to fuel up the tank (when you get the bike, the tank is full). A free refill water station is available and also some tips & tricks about the surroundings of Romlan and the transport options from Lake Toba to other places like Berastagi or Medan. Definitely recommended to book your stay at Romlan when you are looking for a place to stay in Tuk Tuk.

The room supplied the basics plus a mosquito net and was very nice. The bed was very comfortable and I was never too hot. The tour was astounding. Although there is no guarantee to see animals, it’s almost certain that you will. I saw 10 orangutans on the first day of my two day one night trek, including two completely wild ones which are difficult to find. I also saw many other species of mammals including the white gibbon and pig tailed monkey. Another rare find was a very large tortoise. The hotel owner and tour guide is very generous and welcoming, makes sure you are looked after and comfortable, and ensures a good time. This is the tour guide that you want. He is the one who guides the park rangers. He will take you to locations other tourists don’t go and you will spend the first night in a location away from the other camps that has a waterfall and very nice pool in the river to reward yourself with after a long hot trek. I highly recommend this hotel and tour guide. You will not regret it. If you have the time and money, definitely choose to do the longer treks. The guide/hotel owner also helped set up my transportation to and from Bukit Lawang and helped me plan the rest of my trip.
