We noticed the place was rated “the most elegant courtyard” in town upon arrival, and it surely felt that way. It was designed in the style of traditional Chinese courtyard, with beautiful, living plants tastefully positioned throughout the property and in rooms - the hostess is also a floral artist. Everywhere you turn, it is a picture-perfect scene directly cut from a book or a movie. There are tea sets on table and newly harvested tea. A fruit plate was filled with the day’s fresh choices. Books are real, good books, not those only put there for decoration. The hotel staff was also very helpful. Seeing that we sometimes left our door ajar, she thoughtfully ignited mosquito-repellent herds around the vicinity. It is a place one might feel like living in a dream, surrounded by the ambiance of thousands of years of traditional Chinese culture. The moment you entered the hotel and closed the door behind you, you leave the hustling, bustling world outside, and entered one serene, zen and beautiful.

It is a piece of art, with its grand office, reading room, windowed staircase and pebbled corridor punctuated by large jars with an assortment of plants and fishes. The rooms are lovely, spacious and comfortable. The staff is very courteous, friendly and helpful.

Το Tianyiju Inn - Suzhou Tongli Ancient Town προσφέρει καταλύματα με κήπο και δωρεάν WiFi. Tastefully decorated loverly old house, reception staff were very friendly and could advise us places to eat. Their recommendation turned out to be great. The beds were comfortable. The staff (Gloria) went out of her way to pick up our luggage outside of the historical town to bring it in. She helped to book the passes to allow us into Tongli. When we informed her that the room was cold, she brought up good heater to help warm the room. The location of the hotel is central in the old town, easy to walk every where.
