This is the best place I have ever been hosted in. We arrived late at night, the host waited for us, welcomed us with a big smile and explained everything about the facilities. This is her house and it has some rooms for the host. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for self cook and on top of that with a huge generousity she offers a lot of small things to eat on the house, such as cakes, cereals and so on. Everything is super clean and tidy. There is a place where you can take yourself some madeira wine or make yourself tea. It feels like a boutique 5-star hotel. The rooms are beautiful with new furniture. The whole house has an amazing view. The living room is super cozy. It has some board games, blankets, and all of that well-designed and clean! She took care of us very nicely when we had some exceptional requests. Our room was cleaned and made every day, and she made our laundry for free. To sum up, this is a fabulous place, can't recommend enought.

Loved Solar da Bica. The staff there are wonderful, the room was great. The breakfast was excellent, and I liked that they changed things up a little every morning. The sauna and pool was a real treat after a long day hiking. We also loved the little tuck shop in the reception where you could buy beers!

I absolutely adored everything about my stay here. Paulo made me feel extremely welcome. He was super friendly. During my stay, I would see Paulo go above and beyond to help all his guests, to printing maps and timetables of the buses or having endless information and advice on where to go and what to do. Breakfast was included in my stay and it was delicious and Paulo cooks dinner for his guests with fresh food produced from his cousins farm. When I told Paulo that I wanted to climb the pico to pico trail but the pico transfers don't collect from this far out, Paulo kindly dropped me to the bus stop at 6am with a packed breakfast for the day. He was genuinely the kindest host I have ever come across.
