I had the pleasure of staying in the Country Suite of beautiful Villa Várzea for 6 nights, and I cannot recommend it enough. The Villa is comprised of two hundred-year-old buildings with a great history, as they were once owned by one of the first doctors on the island. I loved how the design of the spacious interiors still reflects such history, yet without compromising on modern needs. Together with the very quiet and peaceful location of the small village of Várzea, this combination allows for a very relaxing experience that is hard to find elsewhere. All this I could have mostly guessed by reading the description of the house online. What I could not have guessed is that the house is run by lovely locals, some of whom I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friends with, such as the sweetest receptionist Catarina, Rita, Filomena and the owner Monique, who happens to be the great-granddaughter of the aforementioned physician. In the room, there is also a booklet full of suggested locations to visit, with some interesting descriptions of the history of Villa Várzea and its village. On my last day, I also tried the optional breakfast, which was delicious and included local food.

It is a very clean and nice place, there is lot of space in the kitchen and the garden. It is beautifully and comfortably furnished. It is close to many touristic highlights and we felt very at home there.

Great base to explore the west side of the island, including proximity to Ponta da Ferraria to soak in the natural thermal ocean pool, or a 10 min walk to a viewpoint to see the amazing sunset. Monique is a super host and she took very good care of her guests. The hotel room is tastefully decorated in a charming old house with high ceiling. Glad that I chose this place to stay.

What a sweet little cabin! We only stayed there one night but wished we could have stayed longer. It was in a great location near the Miradouro Escalvado for the most beautiful sunset. The cabin was clean and well cared for. We especially loved the warm dip in the hot tub in the evening. The communication with the owner was excellent.

The house is beautiful and very clean. The surrounding is very nice and calming. You can really relax! Highly recommended.

The house is really big and offers sound system, so even you small kid can be a DJ. It has well equipped kitchen, really lot of towels and great garden. There were also lot of candles so you can indeed feel as at home.
